The ceremony of laying of first serial frigate keel was held on Severnaya shipbuilding yard (Saint Petersburg). Fleet Admiral Kasatonov is the first Russian serial frigate for Russian Navy. The launching of the ship is planned in 2010, in 2012.
The main ship power unit consists of two M55R gas turbine power plants. M55R was developed on the base of M90FR gas turbine (Zorya-Mashproject, Ukraine) with RO55 reduction-gear and 10D49 diesel engine (Kolomensky Zavod, Russia). It is equipped with control system developed, produced and delivered by Aurora Research and Scientific Enterprise.
Installation and commissioning will be carried out by Turborus JSC (Rybinsk, Russia). It will also fulfill maintenance of the equipment during operation.
