MAN Diesel engines set to drive Egyptian megaproject.

MAN Diesel & Turbo has recently been called on to participate in the project, with the delivery of three 18V28/32S engines to the Egyptian Marketing Consultants Group.
The four-stroke diesel engines will power three electricity plants in Southern Egypt, near the town of Toshka, and are due for delivery in August, September and October 2010. Each gen-set will have an output of 23 MW.
The 18V28/32S engine is a turbocharged, single acting engIne with a trunk-piston configuration. It has a cylinder bore of 280 mm and a stroke of 320 mm with à crankshaft speed of 720/750 r/min.
V28/32S of MAN Diesel & Turbo is designed for reliability and ability to run on heavy fuel oil. The company reported extended intervals between overhauls with a lifetime of more than 20 years when properly maintained. More than 5000 of the engines are currently in service.
