The wind farm, which is equipped with 51 of Gamesa's G87-2.0 MW wind turbines, is located 24 km south of Tegucigalpa, in the Cerro de Hula and Izopo mountains.
The site's owner is Globeleq Mesoamerica Energy, a developer of renewable energy projects in Central America, operating through its local subsidiary Energia Ealica de Honduras.
The wind farm has a power purchase agreement to sell its output to Empresa Nacional de Energia Elactrica for a period of 20 years, and the project was financed with funds from the Export-Import Bank of the United States and the Central American Bank for Economic Integration.
